Christian women in Islamic contexts are discriminated against both on the grounds of their religion and because of their gender. This makes them very vulnerable.
In countries such as Egypt and Pakistan they are frequently kidnapped by Muslims, raped and all too often forcibly converted to Islam and coerced into marriage with their kidnapper. In many countries women also find themselves disadvantaged and disempowered so that their educational, health or material needs go unmet. Due to their maternal responsibilities, they also tend to suffer disproportionately when any kind of disaster strikes.
Barnabas Fund helps to resource many projects around the world that empower Christian women to escape violence and abuse, and to enjoy greater freedom, more opportunities and improved healthcare.
