Mission Without Borders has a family sponsorship program for marginalized families in Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Moldova, Romania, and Ukraine.
Poor families in these countries are battling issues like unemployment, human trafficking, illiteracy and early school drop-out, alcohol addiction, homelessness and domestic violence. They often live in cramped homes, without running water in the house, and struggle to provide for their kids’ basic needs.
Families in the program are given monthly parcels of food and hygiene products, household items, wood for heating and cooking, and their kids can attend after-school programs and summer camps. As a family's situation is stabilised, they are counselled on life issues and helped to identify skills that will lead to employment and self-sufficiency. The program is run entirely through local churches. Families are warmly welcomed into the church community and given opportunities to learn more about Jesus throughout the journey.
