Partner with SIM Australia and broaden your church's view of cross-cultural mission.
“From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us…” (Acts 17:26-27)
Are there international students, refugees or migrants in your community?
Our world is becoming increasingly interconnected and globalised. There are large communities of people from nations all around the world in our own country – including those which are unreached with the Good News of Jesus. As Christians, we need to push back against a “worldly” or “nationalistic” view of migration and instead apply a missiological lens.
It is by God’s mercy that there are large numbers of people from countries like Pakistan, Continental Asia, Thailand, Indonesia, Iran and Afghanistan living in our “backyard”! Paul’s address to the Athenians above reminds us that God’s redemptive purposes lie behind these people coming to our land. Many may be within earshot of the Gospel for the very first time!
Australia’s cultural diversity means that your church might be in range of communities where Christ is least known. There are ample opportunities to engage people from these communities and participate in God’s global mission through local outreach.
SIM Australia is passionate about engaging with local churches to support and equip them in ministering across cultures. With over 125 years of experience in cross-cultural mission, SIM Australia works alongside local churches to help broaden their influence and vision for global mission. There may even be scope to enlist a SIM Australia missionary to help spur your congregation on to reaching out cross-culturally.
