Worker Details

Gary and Shirley are intercultural workers for special assignment placement with Baptist Mission Australia. They are serving through the Baptist Theological Seminary of Malawi. Gary and Shirley have discerned God’s call to sow into this ministry, joining the academic team, responsible for teaching English and supporting the delivery of certificate, diploma and degree qualifications in theology for local men and women called to Christian ministry in this region. With 25 years experience as an ordained Pastor, Gary recognises that to establish strong faith communities in Africa, it will take generations of resilient and faithful leaders.

Together Gary and Shirley were challenged by an overseas pastor to follow this calling. They responded, recognising the need for educators. After numerous short-term mission trips, visiting the Seminary, they are trusting that God will continue to lead and equip them as they seek to serve Him in this place.

In partnership with Gary and Shirley, Australian Baptists are sowing into the future of development of local faith leaders and growing faith communities. Your prayers and financial support is sowing into the Kingdom of Heaven through those like Gary and Shirley who have responded, “Here I am Lord send me”.
